My husband and I were out-of-town residents, at the time, in the process of buying a house in Cape Elizabeth that we felt could greatly benefit from a kitchen remodel. We didn’t have a network of family, friends or neighbors to rely on for referrals so I started searching tirelessly on Houzz for peer recommendations. I was utterly disappointed with my first interaction with another seemingly reputable designer. Frustrated and feeling defeated I contacted Maine Coast Kitchen Design via email and pleasantly received a call directly from owner, Tina Richardson. She and I immediately connected over similar personal interests before sharing my goals for a kitchen overhaul. During that initial conversation I felt I was able to successfully communicate my goals for timeline, budget and family needs while establishing a healthy rapport. Tina thoughtfully interpreted my expectations and she was able to address each talking point with her design and build firm’s philosophy and approach.
Subsequent visits with designer, Sarah Raeder, translated into beautiful illustrations of the intended kitchen and dining space. Sarah’s fresh, modern vision exceeded our expectations and showcased how the space will continue to evolve as our family’s needs change. She worked closely with us in choosing quality materials and fixtures that complemented the overall form and function. She clearly communicated our responsibilities, as homeowners, to continue to keep the momentum throughout the demo and installation phases. Once the project began we transitioned daily contact from Sarah to lead contractor, Eric, who was an insightful professional. Eric was incredibly responsive and offered valuable feedback and recommendations. While we always felt we were well informed, if, for any reason, we felt we needed additional reassurance or clarification on any topic ranging from billing inquiry, vendor coordination, quartz delivery, etc, Tina continually offered herself as another point of escalation. We noticed and appreciated how well coordinated their internal team was with sharing client progress.
As presumably happens in quite a few home improvement projects we did change scope a few times with additional requests. Eric and his team were flexible and presented different options for scaling back or considering different options, when appropriate, in an effort to be mindful of budget limitations and timelines. We trusted him and his team to skillfully advise us through the process and couldn’t be more pleased with the process from initial introduction to final result.
Our overall experience and impression has been confidently flawless. Friends and neighbors are complementary of the quality and craftsmanship of the work which I credit mainly to Tina, Sarah, Eric and Chris. You can assuredly hire the team at MCKD and expect a professional level of talent and service.
To cut to the chase I LOVE my kitchen!! It went from a 1996 U shaped to an L with a beautiful island. There is much more space, everything is convenient and the house looks bigger which is a plus! MCKD and their crew did an excellent job with the install. Chris and Eric are amazing! There are a few doors to be replaced but I am confident I will receive the same excellent service when they arrive!
I would strongly recommend Keene at the appliance warehouse in South Portland and Handle It for handles.
The counters are Vetrostone. I purchased them through the owner Tina. Although they were more expensive than granite they were well worth the cost and wait! It is very unique with pieces of glass in it and I get compliments from everyone!
Work was to repair seam on granite countertop. Since the first appointment was cancelled, Maine Coast Kitchen Design offered to complete the work at no charge! The employee was on time, very courteous, knowledgeable, and proficient. He even cleaned up the site afterwards! We were very pleased with the service and would highly recommend Tina and Maine Coast Kitchen Design.
Maine Coast Kitchen Design was recommended to me by a neighbor. They had created the perfect kitchen for someone who loves to cook.
I called Tina and she squeezed me in on a very short notice, for our first meeting. She totally understood my vision for my kitchen remodel and we shared an appreciation for the “Wild West Green” granite that I had picked out. She clearly has a good relationship with the granite vendors in New England. She moved quickly to get photos of the exact slab from the warehouse in Massachusetts. Eric, the artisan stone cutter, examined the pictures for any stone damage and the best way to cut the slab to highlight the movement in this masterpiece by “Mother Nature”. The stone was ordered quickly, received in a timely fashion, cut, and installed in practically no time. I was encouraged to be part of the process when it was time to lay out the template on the slab. My house, is so small that it was impossible to bring the long run of stone in as one piece. You have to look mighty close to find the 1 seam. It is practically invisible.
What at a wonderful job and a wonderful team!
My husband and I are in the process of building a new home. We met with two kitchen designers prior to selecting Maine Coast Kitchen Design. From the first meeting with Tina, I felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. With all of the decisions that come with building a new home, I was feeling a little overwhelmed. We needed someone to listen to our needs, walk us through the process, make thoughtful suggestions, and present us with viable options. Tina and Sarah have done exactly that. They were mindful of our budget and worked very hard to stay within the parameters. Their professionalism and customer service has been second to none. We love the kitchen and bath designs and are eagerly awaiting the installation of our cabinets and counter tops. It is clear that Tina and Sarah want their clients to love their new “Maine Coast Kitchen” for years to come… and we know that we will! If you’re looking for someone to help you navigate through the process of a remodel or new build, we would highly recommend MCKD.
I’m a local builder/ cabinet maker, and I have done many installs for MCKD, from Brunswick to Biddeford, and all of them were well thought out and extremely organized and on time.
Their knowledge and passion in the kitchen/bath industry far exceeds that of any other kitchen center.
Tina is both professional as well as personable in the way she deals w/ her clients and her installers. I look forward to each call I get from Tina and her design team, in the great opportunity to make her clients dream come true. Maine Coast Kitchen Design comes highly recommended.
